Prasanna, widely known as Guitar Prasanna, is a globally acclaimed pioneer of performing Carnatic classical music on electric guitar. Trained in the traditional Guru-Shishya system, he has earned major honors, including a Lifetime Achievement Award and IIT Madrasā€™ Distinguished Alumnus Award. An Oscar-winning composer for Smile Pinki, he has also scored award-winning films and earned international critical praise. A Berklee graduate, he has collaborated with artists like Esperanza Spalding, A.R. Rahman, and Victor Wooten. Founder of the Swarnabhoomi Academy of Music, Prasanna is dedicated to education and to expanding the global reach of Carnatic music through innovation and performance.
